journey begins with guppy :
Journey of jalashay begins with guppy. Our first fish was guppy fish which we caught from friend’s water tank. This tank was not an aquarium but it was an overhead cement tank used for his community hall bathroom section. I absolutely don’t know how to keep fish, how to feed them and to keep them alive.
At that time, I was in 4th standard. After catching seven-eight guppies, I went home and did further work. By observing that, my mother is not watching at what I am doing, I got half empty Horlicks (chocolate drink) jar and emptied it on a newspaper. Without cleaning that jar properly, kept all the fishes in it. It was a 500gm jar which was overcrowded within next two days. In this jar, there were 20 fishes in all. And the fun part is, I put lid back to prevent fishes from jumping out. BANG….. all dead fish found on the next day.
At that age, I can’t even figure out what was wrong with them. So, the next step is, get another batch of 20 fishes again. This process was done for around 5 times. I think I am following only one rule at that time, free fishes = full of experiment. I even don’t bother about how many fishes were dead just because of this experiment.
Then I finally went to the shopkeeper near my home to get basic knowledge of keeping fish.
After these events, I am fascinate about the world of aquarium hobby. It became my passion first and then a hobby. When I went to the aquarium shop, every single fish gives me a feeling of happiness. Hardly one or two times, I came home with empty hands. With every visit I purchase some fish or plants. At that time, because of lack of knowledge, all of my aquariums are low tech. After some years of experience, there is a time, where journey get stabilized.
At the age of 19, I have sound knowledge about keeping fish, breeding them, their deceases, growing plants healthy etc.
