Mini christmas moss

Mini Christmas moss have its name because of its shape like Christmas tree. This moss needs higher lighting environment. If you have shaded area over this moss, it will grow but slowly. Even if this is a moss, it needs fertilizers like iron and potassium ( here are the links to know more about iron deficiency and potassium deficiency).

Mini Christmas moss grows well in Co2 rich environment so try to place this moss in regularized Co2 conditions. If you follow the above guidelines, you can grow this moss like a stem plant, means fast growing plant. In such aquarium conditions, it will never be attack by algae.

If you plan to create background wall with mini Christmas moss, try to attach leaf with the distance of around one inch. This is a slow grower plant, so keep in mind that, the background wall will be fully covered within three to four months. 

After you have nice background wall of this moss, it should be dense but not thick. Trim it regularly, otherwise its lower portion will start getting rot and it will get detached from the mesh.

Trimming for this moss is very simple. Just pull out leaf holding it gently by one hand and hold the area from where you are pulling the leaf by other hand. If it is hard to do trimming by yourself, get the help.

Never ever pull leaf without holding background wall, otherwise the wall portion will get disturb and it will become loose.

Attach this moss to rock or wood with glue or thread. You don’t need to have any special thread to attach it, use any ordinary home base thread. We use dark green colour thread.

Do not use nylon thread because it is not biodegradable.

Remember, mini Christmas moss grows horizontal, it need some space to get denser look. Try to put it within good light area but look daily for any algae signs. If algae spreads over two to three leaf portion, remove it immediately with care.
